What this is:

“50 Years Down The Line” began in 2023 as a celebration of Hip Hop culture, exploring how its "4 elements" came to be in the rough and tumble 1970s Bronx, NY to how Hip Hop continues to thrive and shape American culture. Informed by the depth of academic discourse of Hip Hop activists and educators and driven by visceral performance of Hip Hop artists, “50 Years Down the Line” events will both stand alone and inform the other, providing students, faculty and the wider NCC community with an “edutaining” exploration of Hip Hop’s history and practices.

August 2023 to April 2024 programming of "50 Years" conceived by Professor Andrew McIntosh was made possible from the National Endowment for the Humanities Challenge Grant, awarded to Northampton Community College for the purpose of strengthening the teaching, study and understanding of American history and culture. Professor Andrew McIntosh aka DJ ARM 18 continues to pursue collaboration with those in the Hip Hop community invested in programming further modes of Hip Hop inspired edutainment.
